The main goal of the project was to streamline and accelerate the recruitment process, while reducing the human factor in situations where personal involvement was not necessary. Recruiters needed a way to guide candidates through complex hiring journeys without manually managing each step of the process.

Approach

The project evolved through multiple iterations, starting with an MVP to validate core functionality before refining usability based on user feedback. I conducted extensive competitive benchmarking to identify opportunities for a more intuitive flow creation experience. Throughout the process, I collaborated closely with engineers to balance usability with technical constraints, ensuring seamless synchronization between the web configuration interface and the mobile chatbot experience.

Solution

I designed a visual automation engine that enabled recruiters to build recruitment flows by combining predefined steps, questions, and conditional rules—all without requiring technical knowledge. The interface allowed users to define logical paths based on candidate responses, effectively modeling complex decision trees in a clear, accessible way. This solution unified the experience across channels: decisions made in the web-based builder directly dictated the behavior of the mobile chatbot, ensuring consistency and predictability.

Solution

Outcome

Despite the initial learning curve associated with the MVP, the automation engine exceeded adoption targets for the year. It significantly reduced manual administrative effort, enabling companies to scale their hiring workflows efficiently. Major clients, including Circle K, adopted the solution, and the success of this project paved the way for my involvement in subsequent high-profile initiatives for clients like Walmart.

Key Learnings

Designing the automation engine was a rigorous exercise in balancing creativity with logic. Beyond defining the UX vision, I had to apply analytical thinking to ensure that flexible, conditional flows remained easy to understand. This project taught me how to expose powerful system capabilities without overwhelming users, ensuring that complex logic could be configured intuitively by non-technical teams.
